Sanam Rahimizadeh
The Creatrix
After Benny Cruz
Women are the creators of all men who ever existed:
a reminder of the truth.
Y’all worship a god you have no proof exists, but
deny rights to your earthly creator
whose body shifts and stretches and tears and bleeds for you,
whose body protects and shelters and feeds you,
whose body, on occasion, dies to birth you.
Passing laws to deem her a murderer if she chooses.
Unlawful to put her life above any man’s whims.
Never called a life-bringer but a life-taker,
a mandated life-generator
to bring more working bodies into the Capitalist Machine of America.
If God is a woman, then they will forsake him.
Only on their knees for a murderous man in the sky.
Pro-choice only when the choice is to forget that
